New Gutenberg Block & Precise Error Reporting For Easy Debugging

New Gutenberg Block & Precise Error Reporting For Easy Debugging

Today I’m thrilled to introduce two fantastic new features that will make your WordPress customization experience smoother than ever before.

1. Gutenberg Block for effortless integration

Adding snippets to your site exactly where you want is has never been easier – you can now us the WPCode Gutenberg Block to insert snippets directly in the block editor. You can choose the snippet you want and the best part is that you can also use all the snippet attributes directly in the block interface without having to meddle with shortcode attributes.

This means that all the attributes that you define in the Shortcode settings as Shortcode attributes will automatically be available for you to fill in easily wherever you use the block as pictured above.

2. Enhanced Error Reporting for Precision Editing

The second big improvement we added to the plugin in this release is something many of our users asked for.

Did you ever run into an error with one of your snippets and found it hard to pinpoint where the error is coming from? From the beginning, WPCode was designed to prevent as much as possible scenarios where you would get locked out of your WordPress admin. This meant that in some cases, WPCode will automatically disable snippets until the error is no longer being thrown – this is useful as it allows you to continue using your site and remedy the error but since we had no way to pinpoint the exact snippet that threw the error it also caused confusion when multiple snippets were disabled.

In version 2.1.3 we enhanced the way we execute code so that only the snippet causing the error is disabled and we also show you the exact line where the error has been encountered.

As shown in the screenshot above, when WPCode encounters an error with the potential of preventing you from accessing your website admin area it will automatically disable that snippet and it will also show you the line where the error is encountered if that data is available.

This will greatly reduce the time you need to find where an error is coming from and since you know where it happened you can also fix it faster!

These are the main new features in this release and I’m excited to see how they help you enhance and customize your WordPress site.

As always, if you need help or have any questions regarding WPCode, we’re here to help.
